Invitation to the Chief Medical Officer of England

12th Invest in ME International ME Conference 2017

On 22nd October 2010 Invest in ME Research formally invited the Chief Medical Officer of England, Dame Sally Davies, to open or attend the 12th Invest in ME Research International ME Conference 2017 in Westminster, London.

Invest in ME Research have invited the presiding CMO to attend or present at all of our conferences.

The Chief Medical Officer has again declined to attend the 2017 conference.

As in previous years the conference is held within a short walaking distance from the CMO's office. Once again Invest in ME are disappointed that the CMO could not find an hour or two to attend a major international conference on ME which now attracts delegates from up to 20 countries.

Invest in ME is a UK charity which holds an annual CPD-accredited conference in Westminster, London.

Dear Dame Sally,

Invest in ME Research is a UK charity which seeks to educate about Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).

Each year over the last eleven years we have invited the CMO to our CPD-accredited public research conference – or to attend the conference or our closed research meeting prior to the conference.

After this year’s successful research Colloquium and public conference we created a huge amount of international collaboration amongst researchers.

These events have become the biggest ME meetings in Europe.

We would respectfully ask if you would consider either opening our 12th annual international public conference on 2nd June 2017 or opening our seventh 2-day international Biomedical Research into ME Colloquium on 31st May – 1st June 2017?

Both events are in London – the public conference in One Great George Street, Westminster and the Colloquium at the Guoman Tower hotel next to Tower Bridge in London.

Some of the most renowned ME experts in the world - researchers and physicians - will be present again.

The charity has initiated a gut microbiome project at UEA and also a B-cell research project leading to a clinical trial of the rituximab drug with UCL.

From CMO to Invest in ME

Dame Sally Davies has asked me to thank you for your kind invitation to speak at the 12th annual International ME Conference 2017 on 31st May – 1st June 2017.

Unfortunately, due to prior commitments, Dame Sally is unable to speak. Please could you pass on Dame Sally's apologies.

Dear Hasim

Thank you for your reply.

Our 12th annual international public conference is actually on Friday 2nd June 2017 (our research Colloquium is in 31st May – 1st June 2017.

Would Dame Sally have an opportunity to open that public conference. It would just take an hour of her time from 09.00 on 2nd June, if she did not have more time available?
